-------
I cannot name the hour nor the fleeting tide
When I began to revere the strands by which I abide.
Once an island, steadfast in my seclusion,
Now, I find my solitude blurred in strange diffusion.
From the watchtower of my distant gaze,
I beheld their concord, their mellifluous ways.
A symphony I once observed with a stoic heart,
Now beckons me closer, to become a part.
These gossamer strands entwine with tender grace,
Delicate as whispers that time cannot erase.
Yet I ponder, should I sever their gentle embrace,
Would the winds scatter them, leaving no trace?
Would they mourn the sundering, or understand the call,
Or would silence reign, as I let the silken threads fall?
Would I find solace in the solitude I once revered,
Or feel the sting of a folly that I long ago feared?
For I confess, I yearn for their warmth to remain,
A fragile reprieve from life’s ceaseless strain.
To know my name is etched, however faintly,
In the quiet annals of their shared design.
Yet such yearnings, gilded though they appear,
Are but fleeting lanterns in the misted sphere.
To crave a place within another’s tale
Is to sail adrift, beneath a borrowed gale.
I do not seek grandeur, nor glory’s crown,
But the tender weight of being known, not drowned.
To be a verse within their endless song,
A fleeting note, yet one that belongs.
Still, the quill lies poised within my grasp,
Tracing lines that only my soul can clasp.
For while the threads may shimmer and gleam,
I cannot barter my essence for another’s dream.
Let them linger, those silken ties unspoken,
Neither bound by oath nor carelessly broken.
Should they unravel, or be swept by time’s stream,
Let me endure as a flame, fierce and supreme.
For I am the bearer of my fate’s decree,
The master of paths that none else may see.
No strand, no tie, no tethered plea
Shall ever eclipse the sovereignty of me.
